Prayagraj Old Age Home
“Providing a sanctuary of dignity and love in the holy city of Prayagraj.”
About the Facility
Established in 2014, Adharshila Old Age Home was founded with a vision to address a growing humanitarian need in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and the surrounding districts where there was a significant lack of organized care facilities for senior citizens. At that time, many elderly individuals— especially those who were abandoned, homeless, widowed, or without family support—had no safe shelter, healthcare, or emotional care. Recognizing this urgent social gap, Adharshila began its journey with just 2 elderly residents and a strong commitment to serve humanity with dignity and compassion. Over the years, Adharshila has grown into one of the region’s most trusted elder care institutions, now providing shelter, food, healthcare, emotional support, and rehabilitation to 125+ elderly residents at its Prayagraj center. The institution serves as a home for senior citizens from Prayagraj and nearby cities, ensuring that they live their later years with respect, security, and a sense of belonging.

Maha Kumbh Mela, Old Age Home, Prayagraj
“Serving the forgotten elders at the world’s largest spiritual congregation is where humanity meets divinity.”
During the Maha Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj, our organization established and operated a Temporary Old Age Home with a capacity of 100 beneficiaries to provide shelter, care, and support to elderly pilgrims and destitute senior citizens attending this grand spiritual gathering. The facility remained functional throughout the Kumbh Mela period and served as a safe haven for elderly individuals requiring assistance, protection, and basic amenities. Regular health check-ups, emergency medical assistance, counseling services, and recreational activities were organized to ensure the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the elderly beneficiaries.
Special attention was given to senior citizens who were travelling alone, economically disadvantaged, physically weak, or in need of temporary shelter during the pilgrimage. A dedicated team of caregivers, volunteers, and support staff worked round the clock to ensure that every resident received compassionate care and assistance throughout their stay. The initiative helped many elderly pilgrims participate in the sacred Kumbh Mela with dignity, safety, and comfort.
The programme received appreciation from beneficiaries, visitors, and local stakeholders for its effective management and humanitarian approach. Through this Old Age Home Programme, the organization reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and protection of senior citizens by providing them with a caring environment during one of the world's largest religious congregations. The successful implementation of this initiative reflects our dedication to social service, elderly care, and inclusive participation in cultural and spiritual events.

During the Magh Mela held at Prayagraj, our organization successfully established and operated a Temporary Old Age Home with a capacity of 100 beneficiaries to provide care, shelter, and support to elderly pilgrims and destitute senior citizens visiting the mela. The facility remained operational throughout the duration of the Magh Mela and served as a safe and comfortable accommodation center for elderly individuals who required special attention and assistance.
The Temporary Old Age Home provided free boarding, lodging, nutritious meals, drinking water, medical assistance, and round-the-clock care to the residents. Special arrangements were made for health check-ups, emergency medical support, personal hygiene, counseling, and recreational activities to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of the elderly beneficiaries. Dedicated staff members, caregivers, and volunteers worked tirelessly to create a secure and compassionate environment for the residents. Particular attention was given to elderly persons who were travelling alone, economically weaker, physically challenged, or in need of temporary shelter during the religious gathering.
The programme received positive feedback from beneficiaries, local authorities, and community members. Through this initiative, the organization reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the dignity, safety, and welfare of senior citizens while promoting the values of compassion, service, and social responsibility. The successful implementation of this Temporary Old Age Home during the Magh Mela reflects our continuous efforts to support vulnerable elderly citizens and ensure that they are able to participate in important cultural and religious events with dignity, comfort, and care.
